You might have noticed something is quite different here: no your eyes are not playing a trick; we do have a new, redesigned website for the Washington Wine Academy! While our old website was visually pleasing and a step in the right direction, we were noticing usability issues which prevented visitors from viewing the important information we’re trying to convey online. Therefore, we asked 360 Degrees to redesign our site and make it more user-friendly and efficient. After some mutual brainstorming, they came up with a new site architecture which, we hope, will make it easier for our site’s visitors to find the information they’re looking for – quicker. You may notice that some pages are not where they used to be. We have consolidated a few of the pages which had redundant information as well as change the navigational structure to follow a better logical and institutional flow.
We are always looking for a clean, simplistic design which makes content stand out more and is easier to be read and comprehended. You will notice that we are also using more images for visual impact and there’s better flow and display of information right from the homepage.
In addition to the new architecture and look, we switched our website’s publishing platform as well. The new CMS (content management system) has made it much easier for WWA’s staff to update the entire site – but most importantly, the many events we organize. We were spending too much time updating our site and trying to post new events. Not only we now have some of our upcoming events displayed on every page of the site, but it is much easier for our staff to create and edit them as well, all from one place. Which brings us to one of the best new features which make our site more user-friendly: our calendar of events. Now you can view all of our events in a calendar view and then click on each event for more details.
But one of the best features of our new site is that it is responsive. If you’re viewing our site on a mobile device (cell phone or tablet), you will notice that you no longer have to pinch or squeeze because the site will adjust to your device’s resolution. It has been a while that we have embraced mobile technology (we have on-site credit card payments at our events) and this new development fits in very well with our mobility.
Needless to say, we’re quite pleased with what 360 Degrees has created for us. We hope you find our new site easier to use and better overall. If you think we have missed something or if there’s something you think can be improved, please feel free to comment and let us know.
