French Wine

This foundation course sets the stage. Find out why France is synonymous with wine. While doing so, you’ll learn the fundamental concepts of wine and vine, expand your wine vocabulary and hone your palate!

An Introduction to the Wines of France Syllabus:

In this class, you will discover France as an historic producer and exporter of wine. Did you know that France was the first nation to set wine production standards…that seven of the eight “international” grape varieties are indigenous to France? Learn about terroir and the French concept of “grape growing” vs. “wine making”. Explore the French ideal of wine “quality”, then put theory to the taste test as you ‘tour’  Champagne, Alsace, the Loire, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Rhone and Southern France learning about their climates, soils, grapes and wine styles.
